This blog is my attempt to write down some of the stuff churning around in my head.  Most of that has to do with bicycles.  Bikes have been a big part of my life since I first started working in bike shops in 1977.  I worked in bike shops for ten years, going back to school along the way, and eventually getting a masters degree  in agricultural and biosystems engineering.  I currently work in engineering in Knoxville, TN.  My new job (as of January, 2012) is very demanding but also very rewarding.

I have raced road and cyclocross; I still tour, wander the back roads, and use the bike for transportation.  I am a League of American Bicyclists certified instructor (LCI).

    Hey Jim,
Beautiful photos! I am sorry to hear you had to go to the ER last night!! I wish you a speedy and complete recovery and hope to see you out on the road soon. Please let me know if I can be of any help while you are recouperating. I’ll keep you posted on a workers ride if you’d like to join us for a ride and lunch on the metric route maybe in early November?

    All the Best,
    Dave P.
