Cyclist deaths

Four cyclist deaths in the region in the last few years (Chattanooga, Athens, Maryville, Roane County).  In all cases, the cyclist was struck from behind; in three cases, on a wide shoulder.

At least three were prominent members of the cycling community ( I don’t know about the guy in Athens).

Two indictments, one of which lead to a conviction.

The moral seems to be that it is okay to kill a bicyclist unless you are driving while impaired.  DAs and grand jury members drive while distracted, too —  that can’t be crime.
