This blog is my attempt to write down some of the stuff churning around in my head. Most of that has to do with bicycles. Bikes have been a big part of my life since I first started working in bike shops in 1977. I worked in bike shops for ten years, going back to school along the way, and eventually getting a masters degree in agricultural and biosystems engineering. I currently work as an environmental engineer in Knoxville, TN.
I have raced road and cyclocross; I still tour, wander the back roads, and use the bike for transportation. I am a League of American Bicyclists certified instructor (LCI)and I am on the Bicycle Advisory Committe to the Knoxville regional Transportation Planning Organization (BAC).
Another big part of my life right now is service on the board of Three Rivers Market food co-op.

Hey Jim,
Beautiful photos! I am sorry to hear you had to go to the ER last night!! I wish you a speedy and complete recovery and hope to see you out on the road soon. Please let me know if I can be of any help while you are recouperating. I’ll keep you posted on a workers ride if you’d like to join us for a ride and lunch on the metric route maybe in early November?
All the Best,
Dave P.
